 Thermocouples TP-B

 

Description

Working principle and application

Thermocouples are designed to measure the temperature of gaseous, bulk, solid and liquid substances in various industries. By the method of contact with the measured medium, the thermocouples are divided into:

  • - immersible;
  • - surface.

 

Thermocouples are produced in two models (versions):

- TP-B – thermocouples corresponding to the requirements of GOST 6616 with Nominal Static Characteristic of conversion (NSC) according to STB GOST P 8.585 (ТХА(K), TXK(L), THH(N), ТЖК(J));

- TP-B-U – thermocouples with unified output signal (4-20) mA or (0-5) mA, digital protocol HART, combined with unified output signal.

 

The working principle of the TP-B is based on the change in electromotive force (EMF) of sensor element (SE) depending on the temperature.

The working principle of TP-B-U is based on converting the signal of primary temperature transducer into a unified output signal (4-20) mA, (0-5) mA through the built-in temperature transmitter. With the possibility of transmitting the converted signal, via the HART protocol, to a device supporting this protocol. Thermocouple TP-B is used as the primary temperature transducer in TP-B-U. The temperature transmitter PI-001 is mounted in the connection head TP-B-U.

 

TP-B-U can have a linear and/or non-linear dependence of the output signal on temperature. TP-B-U can have a built-in display, which displays characters corresponding to certain TP-B-U settings, or the value of the input parameter in digital form in the units of measurement set at the setting, or the value of the output signal as a percentage of the measuring range.

 

Thermocouples are manufactured with or without use in hazardous areas according to GOST 30852.0 (hereinafter referred to as safe). Safe thermocouples correspond to the II group of explosion-proof equipment for indoor and outdoor installation in accordance with GOST 30852.0.

 

TP-B and TP-B-U for use in hazardous locations:

- with type of protection "explosion-proof enclosure" and explosion protection marking 1ExdIICT6X according to GOST 30852.1;

- with type of protection "intrinsically safe electric circuit" of the level "ia" and marking 0ExiaIICT6X in accordance with GOST 30852.10.

In addition to the above, thermocouples are manufactured with combined type of explosion protection with marking 1ExdiaIICT6X.

Thermocouples with the type of protection "intrinsically safe circuit" of the "ia" level should be operated as part of the associated electrical equipment having an input measuring circuit with the type of protection "intrinsically safe circuit" of the "ia" level.

 

Characteristics of TP-B and TP-B-U for hazardous locations

Maximum input parameters of intrinsically safe circuits of thermocouples TP-B with marking 0ExiaIICT6:

- input voltage Uo 80 mV;

- input current Io 1 mA;

- power input Po 0,001 W;

- internal inductance Lo 300 mH;

- internal capacitance Co 300 mF.

 

Maximum input parameters of intrinsically safe circuits of thermocouples TP-B-U with marking 0ExiaIICT6:

- input voltage Ui 24 V;

- input current Ii 23 mA;

- power input Po 0,6 W;

- internal inductance Li 0,1 mH;

- internal capacitance Ci 0,068 mF.

 

Operating conditions of TP-B and TP-B-U

TP-B and TP-B-U are resistant to the influence of ambient air temperature from -50 °C to +85 °C, to relative humidity of ambient air 95% at +35 °C and at lower temperatures (group D3 GOST 12997).

For TP-B-U with LCD display the ambient air temperature is from -40 °C to +70 °C.

For TP-B-U with LED display the ambient air temperature is from -50 °C to +85 °C.

TP-B and TP-B-U are resistant to sinusoidal vibration in the frequency range from 10 Hz to 55 Hz, with a displacement amplitude of 0.35 mm (group N2 GOST 12997).

 

Installation of thermocouples, installation and inspection of their technical condition during operation should be carried out in accordance with the technical description and instructions for the equipment, with which they operate.

Average life - not less than 6 years.

Warranty - 2 years.

Calibration interval - 2 years.

Range of unified output signal from 4 to 20 mA or from 0 to 5 mA.
Digital protocol HART, combined with unified output signal.
Basic given tolerance for TP-B-U: ±0,25%; ±0,5%; ±1%.
Rated load resistance 100 Ohm.
Power consumption of TP-B-U, not more than 0,8 W.
Supply voltage (24±12) V DC.

The design of thermocouples is primarily determined by the model: TP-B and TP-B-U.

The model is determined by:

- the probe type;

- the process connection/mounting type;

- the type of connection head;

- the cable gland type.

Design types

 

 

OPEN-FRAME THERMOCOUPLES (bare thermocouples)
      Open-frame thermocouples with probe type "B" (ceramic beads) and with probe type "Bs" (soft cable: thermoeletrodes are in braid made of fiberglass, silicone or fluoropolymer) are designed to measure the temperature in furnaces. The advantage of these thermocouples is simplicity.
        It is allowed to bend the thermocouple, when installing in hard-to-reach places.
        The lack of protection of thermoelectrodes causes a relatively short lifetime.
        Insulating beads are made of Al2O3.
        Protection level is IP00.
        Available with the following types of NSC: TXA(K); TXK(L); ТЖК(J)

MI CABLE THERMOCOUPLES

        The MI cable is a flexible metal tube with one or two pairs of thermoelectrodes arranged parallel to each other inside it. The space around the thermoelectrodes is filled with well-pressed fine-dispersed mineral insulation. The thermoelectrodes of the MI cable thermocouple are welded to each other on working side(media side), forming a hot junction inside the sheath. The working tip is welded using a plug or cap. Lead wires of MI cable are connected to the terminals of the connection head or to extension/compensation cable.

    Thermocouples with safety protection design are manufactured:
1.    with type of protection "explosion proof enclosure" and with mark  1ExdIICT6X according to GOST 30852.1;
2.    with type of protection "intrinsically safe circuit" of level "ia" and with mark 0ExiaIICT6X according to GOST 30852.10.
        In addition, explosion-proof thermocouples are manufactured in combined protection of abovementioned types with marking 1ExdiaIICT6X.
        Thermocouples with the type of protection "intrinsically safe circuit" of "ia" level should be operated as a part of the associated electrical equipment whose input measuring circuit also has the type of protection "intrinsically safe circuit" of "ia" level.
